We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated Permanent Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor in the Manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our manufacturing processes meet and exceed both local and international food safety and quality standards. This position requires a professional with a strong background in food manufacturing and a deep understanding of food safety and quality assurance practices. The FSQA Supervisor will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of our operations, making this a critical and exciting role within our organization.

Responsibilities:

Overview:
This position will assist the Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager with basic supervision and the direction of the FSQA staff as well as serving as backup for the FSQA Manager in all quality and food safety matters when the FSQA Manager is not present. The responsibilities include conducting quality audits, perform pre-operational inspections of equipment and processing areas, gather
and compile production samples, provide incoming ingredient inspections, monitor and ensure compliance with facility HACCP,SSOP, Quality and GMP programs. This position will work on multiple tasks at a time while making decisions independently and handle themselves calmly in stressful situations. There will be travel to cold storage facilities as well as suppliers to conduct ingredient inspections, supplier approvals, and other special projects.


Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor robust food safety and quality assurance systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the FSQA department, including supervising a team of quality assurance technicians.
  • Assure adequate staffing by working with the FSQA Manager to evaluate new hires, and conducting performance evaluations of the FSQA staff.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of manufacturing processes to identify potential food safety risks or quality issues.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead incident investigations related to food safety and quality, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Provide training and coaching to staff on food safety and quality assurance practices and procedures.
  • Review and approve supplier and raw material specifications, ensuring they meet our stringent quality standards.
  • Stay updated with the latest food safety and quality assurance trends, technologies, and regulations.
  • Be available to work different shifts as required by the FSQA Manager.
  • Microbiological knowledge required, and ability to design and execute sanitation programs to manage and reduce microbiological risks. Knowledge of microbiological lab testing protocols, particularly the positive swab investigation procedure is required.
  • Knowledgeable of standard packaging equipment, requirements, materials and procedures. Ensure all AFNA products are properly packaged, labeled with appropriate nutritional and USDA information, and date coded accordingly.
Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is required.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within food safety and quality assurance in the food manufacturing industry.
3. Certified in HACCP, SQF, BRC, or other recognized food safety and quality assurance programs.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of food safety regulations, industry standards, and quality assurance practices.
5. Proven experience in leading and managing a team, with strong leadership and communication skills.
6. Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a focus on implementing effective solutions.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with quality management systems.
9. Fluency in English (Written and Verbal) required
10. (Bilingual Spanish a plus)
