Description The Territory Sales Manager is responsible for the development, performance, and maintenance of sales activities in assigned market. This position recognizes opportunities in the marketplace and establishes plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the defined market area. In addition to managing accounts, the Territory Sales Representative will collaborate closely with architects to secure project work. This Territory Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing markets in Maine and NH.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Is responsible for the overall selling in an assigned territory to existing and prospective building contractors, remodeling contractors, distributors, and lumber yards.
- Works with key customers to secure project work through distribution by educating on product specifications, design, and performance.
- Prepares action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made.
- Prepares weekly sales reports showing areas of concern and areas for improvement.
- Follows up on leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
- Maintains product knowledge as designs and products change, prepares presentations, proposals, and sales materials.
- Manages account services through quality checks and other follow-up. Manages customer list by review and makes recommendations of non-performing accounts.
- Communicates customer issues and feedback to appropriate individuals using established communication channels.
- Communicates new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate company staff.
- Participates in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events. Delivers presentations and Request for Proposal (RFP) responses to key customers.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS • Three to five years of sales experience in a similar position with demonstrated ability to assume increasing responsibilities.
• Work requires significant local travel to current and potential clients with a willingness to work a flexible schedule and overnight travel.
• The Territory Sales Representative position requires the possession of a clean, valid state drivers' license.
• Knowledge of sales promotion techniques with experience in all aspects of Supplier Relationship Management.
• Ability to create, compose, and present materials. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of computer basics (Windows, Excel, Word, Email, and the Internet).
• Organizational and time management skills and a positive style personality.
• Excellent people skills and poise in dealing with a diverse range of people in a variety of circumstances.
• Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
• Must demonstrate the ability to interact with peers, management, and other departments in a professional manner.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS • While performing the duties of this position, the employee must be able to work inside, occasionally working protracted or irregular hours. This position will work closely with others in addition to working alone.
• Use of equipment used to perform the essential functions include computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine and an automobile.
• Work requires significant local travel and may require occasional overnight travel and weekend and/or evening work.
