TITLE: Summer Program Youth Intern
DEPARTMENT/CLUB: Henry Beacons Club, Patrick Henry High School
REPORTS TO: Program Director
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
STATUS: Part Time, Temporary
PAY RATE: Starting at $15.00 per hour
SCHEDULE: Monday-Thursday from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
DURATION: June 17th - Aug 8th
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Summer Program Youth Interns are the reason behind this highly sought out summer program. We are looking for individuals who are out-going, can help us build relationships with young people, support their social and emotional wellbeing, be community minded, work collaboratively, and most importantly, like to have FUN. The program offers a variety of opportunities and choices for 1st - 8th graders from our sports camps to our theater production and our many enrichment activities.

Program Support Interns can expect to:
  • Learn best practices for safe high quality programming in order to co-lead fun and engaging activities.
  • Lead activities such as arts and crafts, leadership, games, music and movement based on each intern's interest and talents
  • As a part of the afternoon sports camps, interns have the option to support the development of skills and talent of youth in basketball, soccer or football.
  • The theater production provides an exciting goal for the youth to come together to put on a production for their peers and community. This year's production will be Moana.
  • Assist with set-up and clean up each program day
  • Prepare you for your future in youth and community work with the possibility of continuing on with us throughout the upcoming school years.

The BGCTC is committed to ongoing strategic initiatives to reduce systemic racism throughout the Twin Cities and have defined ways that the Club serves as an activator in addressing the extreme disparities for young people in the communities we serve. The Club is implementing a program model that directly impacts the educational achievement gap in partnership with teachers/schools and parents/guardians.
