SUMMARY
Plan, direct, or coordinate the day-to-day operations, work activities and resources necessary for the shipping/receiving/warehouse/material handling operations of J&D Manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. Set short and long term objectives for effective shipping/receiving/warehouse planning.

- Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping/receiving/warehouse/material handling activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, completeness and the condition of shipments.
- Prepare documents and shipping orders to route materials.
- Determine shipping methods for materials and product, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
- Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Confer and correspond with other departments to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
- Determine space needs and availability for trucks and product.
- Meet shipping schedules based upon priority listing to meet all ship dates.
- Perform routine quality checks, both written and oral.
- Provide input on existing or new procedures.
- Work with Customer Service and Sales Department Representatives to meet customer demands regarding rush orders and delivery dates.
- Review shipping schedules to determine what needs to ship on a daily basis.
- Ensure frequent communication and efficient, constant flow of materials to and from production lines.
- Plan and establish work schedules and assignments to meet shipping/receiving/warehousing/material handling goals.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the shipping/receiving/warehousing/material handling activities.
- Confer with other supervisors/managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
- Ensure that all equipment and facilities are properly maintained for efficient shipping/receiving/warehousing/material handling operations and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of equipment.
- Interpret specifications and company policies and procedures for workers.
- Complete MMIR forms for inventory discrepancies.
- Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
- Work with Human Resources to hire, train, and evaluate employees, reward employees, resolve personnel issues and generate and deliver corrective action notices for disciplinary and discharge documentation.
- Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
- Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve shipping/receiving/warehousing methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
- Effectively direct delegation of authority to the appropriate subordinates.
- Conduct effective communications between management, including follow-up and status reports on existing projects and duties before their scheduled due dates.
- Communicate openly and professionally between departments, management and shipping/receiving/warehousing employees.
- Provide direction to employees moving freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production lines.
- Ensure all aisle ways and fire doors are free of materials.
- Provide direction on restocking, cleaning and re-organizing warehouse and production floor.
- Collect forklift safety checklists daily from subordinates. Ensure all defects/concerns are reported and are followed up on.
- Direct and follow all safety and housekeeping practices within the facility, including effective use of all warehouse space, production space and in external staging areas. Also, ensure all employees follow these procedures.
- Participate in all aspects of final product quality control inspections affected by warehouse and shipping in coordination with Supervisors/Managers and other departments.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in inventory and cost control programs.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for generating team spirit and creating and maintaining a personal attitude and work environment that fosters the highest level of employee cooperation, morale and satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree; five years or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have excellent attention to detail skills and extreme accuracy.
