Comcast is expanding the Data Experience (dX) Team. The role of the Analyst, Data Governance is to partner with teams across the organization to document business and technical metadata inclusive of business definitions, data administration and data lineage. The role will function within the Data Governance organization and will be implementing in the systems development lifecycle within dX. This is an analytical and technical role. The pace is challenging but realistic.

Core Responsibilities:

• Partners with data governance, data stewards, and subject matter experts to create and maintain business definitions/business glossary and business and technical data lineage
• Evaluates existing solution data dictionaries for duplication, gaps and/or quality issues to ensure the most accurate business descriptions are available for consumption by the analytics team
• Analysis of existing lineage and documentation/process modeling of new end-to-end data lineage for data solutions leveraging Informatica Metadata Manager or MS Office tools
• Data classification/tagging of business metadata in accordance with the Metadata Management policy, standards, and procedures in order to optimize usage and validation of trusted sources for the enterprise
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of referential and large data formats and file structures
• Knowledge of databases, including big data technologies
• Knowledge of programming and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Knowledge of Metadata tagging, data classification, and defining business and technical metadata
• Ability to convey complex concepts to business stakeholders in terms relevant to the business
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent data analysis skills
• Organized, structured, methodical
• Analytical with strong problem-solving ability
• Strong prioritization and time management skills

Experience

• 3+ years of relevant employment experience
• 3+ years of experience interpreting data models, data dictionaries and queries
• Ability to write moderately complex SQL queries
• Exposure to the following a plus: Hadoop, Teradata (BTEQs), Tableau, Informatica, Collibra
• Advanced SQL, MS Office, UNIX, Lineage and Data Flow Diagraming

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. Ability to analyze complex data, business processes, and information flow needs.
