A job with Student Life Marketing provides students the opportunity to work in an agency-like atmosphere where creative problem-solving and collaboration with colleagues lead to the development of effective strategies to build awareness, engagement, and action from target audiences. All Student Life Marketing staff will contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of various marketing and communications initiatives to promote the Office of Student Life and its 30 plus departments. Job Summary The Graphic Designer plays a key role in creating a wide variety of digital and print designs for campaigns, signage, social media, brochures, posters, and more. This role involves researching, concept creation, collaboration, and finalizing designs to the highest standards. The Graphic Designer works closely with the Student Life Marketing team and professional staff/clients from departments across the Office of Student Life. Department-Specific Responsibilities Collaborate with full-time staff, student copywriters, and other team members to develop creative solutions for campaigns. Design digital and print materials using Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) while adhering to design principles and targeting the appropriate audience. Follow the project management process and Creative Brief to guide the design and production process. Conduct research on background information, past designs, and inspiration to inform design decisions. Communicate internally regarding critiques, updates, and project statuses. Communicate with clients to ensure project completion and provide digital files for production. Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University. Preferred Pursuit of a degree in Graphic Design or a related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required Experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) for design and layout. Experience in creating designs for campaigns and advertisements. Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

SKILLS

Required Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and layout. Exceptional attention to detail. Professionalism, dependability, and respect for others. Strong decision-making skills and ability to work independently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Understanding of effective marketing tactics and audience engagement strategies. Proficient photography skills. Comfortable with talking to others and presenting ideas confidently. Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Requires flexibility for evening and weekend events while maintaining some office hours.
