As a Machinist for General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) Precision Structures & Optics (PSO) located in Cullman, AL, you'll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for manufacturing Beryllium products for use in the most demanding applications, across the aerospace, defense, and nuclear industries. Our products are used in high performance sensing systems for targeting and acquisition, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, and are hardened for the battlefield environment.
The primary responsibility of this position will be to work in the Mill Department within the Precision Machining Center (PMC). The candidate must be able to hold precision tolerances and complete finish machining operations on critical hardware. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES / TASKS: \n - Setting up and meticulously operating CNC machines to produce high-precision aerospace components
\n - Ensuring all parts adhere to strict quality standards and tolerances, often within microns
\n - Conducting finish machining operations to achieve the required surface finishes and dimensions
\n - Performing thorough inspections and quality checks using precision measuring tools
\n - Maintaining detailed documentation of machining processes and production outcomes
\n - Collaborating with Engineering and Quality teams to address any machining issues
\n - Proficient in interpreting detailed engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles
\n - Experienced in finish machining operations, including polishing, deburring, and final inspections

SKILLS / TASKS / ABILITIES: \n - Expert in operating and programming CNC machines, including multi-axis mills
\n - Advanced skills in using high-precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
\n - Highly detail-oriented and committed to achieving the highest levels of precision and accuracy
\n - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of troubleshooting complex machining issues
\n - Excellent communication skills, fostering effective teamwork and collaboration

Salary Note This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
Combined Salary Range USD $39.94 - USD $42.84 /Hr.
