Job Description

Hospital Sitter

Starting at $16 to $18

Are you someone who brings calm, reassurance, and quiet support during challenging times? We are seeking dependable, compassionate Hospital Sitters to provide non-medical bedside support and wellness observation to patients in hospitals or care facilities. Your presence can offer safety, comfort, and peace of mind to individuals who simply need someone by their side.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Hospital Sitter, you’ll offer a steady, attentive presence to patients who may be recovering, confused, anxious, or in need of focused, one-on-one support. While you won’t be performing any medical tasks, your role is essential to promoting emotional security and patient safety.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Bedside Companionship - Sitting quietly with patients, providing a calming presence, engaging in gentle conversation, or simply offering emotional support.

  • Observation & Safety Monitoring - Keeping a watchful eye on patient behavior and alerting nursing staff to signs of distress, confusion, or restlessness.

  • Communication Support - Acting as an extra set of eyes and ears for both care teams and family members, sharing timely updates or concerns.

  • Routine Support - Offering non-clinical assistance such as adjusting pillows, bringing water, or helping maintain a peaceful room environment.

  • Emotional Wellness - Encouraging a sense of calm, dignity, and comfort through your respectful presence and attentiveness.

  • Assistance Client with staying connected to Family and Friends
    `

Who We’re Looking For

  • Naturally calm, patient, and emotionally steady

  • Compassionate and respectful toward all individuals, regardless of their health or mental state

  • Able to sit or remain present with a patient for extended periods with focus and care

  • Attentive, observant, and responsive. Able to communicate clearly with nursing staff

  • Comfortable in clinical or healthcare environments (no hands-on care required)

Required Qualifications

  • Clear background and criminal history check

  • Fingerprinting clearance (as required by state/healthcare agencies)

  • Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record (if driving is required)

  • Negative pre-employment drug screen (random testing may apply)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to stay alert during long shifts

  • Physically able to sit/stand for extended periods

  • Reliable transportation and punctual attendance

  • Prior caregiving experience preferred but not required

Working Conditions

  • On-site at hospitals, rehab centers, or care facilities

  • Shifts range 4–12 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Professional appearance and behavior required

  • Must follow HIPAA and confidentiality standards

What We Offer

  • A deeply meaningful role where your presence makes a visible difference

  • Flexible scheduling. Select from day, night, or weekend shifts based on your availability

  • Paid training and onboarding to ensure you feel confident and supported

  • Opportunities for consistent scheduling and long-term assignments

  • A respectful, team-based culture that values non-clinical care roles

  • Competitive hourly pay, with night/weekend differentials where applicable

  • IRA 3% to 5% match

If you’re someone who brings calm, care, and quiet strength into the room, we would love to learn more about you. Apply today and help make someone’s hospital stay feel a little safer, a little more human.

To Apply: Please submit your resume, cover letter, and contact information for three professional references. All candidates must be willing to complete pre-employment requirements prior to starting work.
