Frontend Web Developer

Rugged Robotics is on a mission to empower the construction industry to build better by innovating new approaches to tough problems using automation. The software team at Rugged Robotics is responsible for prototyping, developing, and implementing software solutions that power the automation of our construction layout robots. As a Frontend Web Developer , you'll be harnessing your creative and technical skills to build the bridge between our clients/operators and our robotics software/hardware stack. 

The Role


  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to build responsive, user-friendly web interfaces

  • Develop and maintain frontend features using React and TypeScript, with a focus on performance and scalability

  • Translate complex workflows into intuitive UI/UX components

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across multiple browsers and devices

  • Integrate different types of APIs and ensure seamless data flow between systems

  • Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews

  • Contribute to the design system and UI consistency across our suite of tools

  • Collaborate closely with backend, DevOps, and product teams to deliver end-to-end features

  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and team discussions in an Agile environment

You Are


  • Someone with 3+ years of experience building modern, responsive web applications using React, HTML, CSS, and TypeScript/JavaScript (including modern ES6+ features)

  • Experienced in integrating with RESTful APIs and GraphQL

  • Comfortable working with real-time data technologies such as WebSockets

  • Familiar with state management with libraries like Redux, Zustand, or similar

  • Well-versed in automated testing and testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress

  • Experienced in working with graphical interfaces involving 2D or 3D models, using canvas libraries like Konva or WebGL/three.js

  • Committed to accessibility (a11y) and internationalization, including right-to-left (RTL) support

  • Comfortable using modern development workflows/tools like Git, Docker, etc.

  • An excellent problem-solver with a strong user-focused mindset

Great to Have


  • Experience with React Native and mobile-first design

  • Familiarity with AWS services or cloud deployment pipelines

  • Comfort working with design tools like Figma and collaborating on UX

  • Understanding of CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitLab CI)

  • Knowledge of frontend security best practices

  • Exposure to CAD tools, architectural workflows, or robotics (professional or hobbyist)
