Job Description

Freight Forwarding Agent (Airfreight Focus)

Location: Grapevine, TX (Dallas-Fort Worth Metro Area)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Our client, a dynamic and established freight forwarder in the Dallas area, is seeking a dedicated Freight Forwarding Agent with a strong emphasis on airfreight operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing international shipments and ensuring seamless supply chain solutions. If you have expertise in air cargo logistics and a passion for optimizing global trade, this opportunity offers growth in a collaborative team setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage airfreight shipments from origin to destination, including booking with airlines, preparing documentation, and tracking cargo in real-time.
  • Handle customs brokerage processes, ensuring compliance with international regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements (e.g., FAA, TSA, and IATA standards).
  • Liaise with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues, provide status updates, and negotiate rates for airfreight services.
  • Prepare and review shipping documents such as air waybills (AWBs), commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
  • Monitor shipment timelines, anticipate delays due to weather, customs holds, or capacity constraints, and implement contingency plans.
  • Optimize routing and consolidation of air cargo to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records in logistics software systems (e.g., familiarity with CargoWise or similar platforms).
  • Support occasional ocean or ground freight tasks as needed, but with primary focus on airfreight volumes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, including airfreight market fluctuations, fuel surcharges, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in freight forwarding, with at least 1 year focused on airfreight operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Strong knowledge of airfreight processes, including IATA Dangerous Goods regulations and perishable cargo handling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics management software.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build relationships with international partners.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate global time zones and urgent shipments.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; no sponsorship available.
