Job Summary

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Collaborator is essential to the Bureau of Health Equity's Office of Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Equity Strategy (ODIBES) efforts to support internal organizational culture transformation through embedding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) principles in policies, practices, and culture through technical assistance including consultation, facilitation, and coaching, as well as training, and systems change.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Leading the development, facilitation, and implementation of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) training and technical assistance across bureaus.
  • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of equity culture related bureau and department wide initiatives and measuring overall impact of equity culture transformation.
  • Closely collaborating with Human Resources (HR) to lead the development, administration, adoptions, and evaluation of DEIB practices, policies, and procedures.

This position is currently eligible for up to 50% hybrid telework for applicants residing in Minnesota or a bordering state within 50 miles of the work location. Telework of 50% or more may be allowed based on position needs and location.

This position is temporary in nature and can be ended at any time. The position is anticipated to last through October 31, 2027.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of experience working within equity, inclusion, and belonging for communities most impacted by inequities (including but not limited to populations of color, refugee/immigrant, American Indian, LGBTQIA+, Persons Living with Disabilities) in public health, healthcare, community health, environmental health, education or another related field.

Experience that will be assessed during interview:
  • Project management experience that includes tracking progress on shared goals.
  • Experience working within or around public health policy
  • Ability to think logically and translate technical information into plain language for a variety of audiences
  • Communication and group facilitation skills, particularly around issues of health equity, racial equity, intersectionality, and social justice
  • Experience related to the communities most impacted by health inequities

Educational Equivalencies:

A degree in health policy, environmental health, public policy, public health, or other related field of study will substitute for experience accordingly:
  • Associate Degree: Six (6) months of experience
  • Bachelor Degree: One (1) year of experience
  • Master's Degree: Eighteen (18) months of experience
  • Doctoral Degree: Two (2) years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience working in a regulatory environment, or government entity.
  • Experience working at the intersections of race/ethnicity, faith traditions, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability justice, social justice and more
  • Proven experience effectively working or organizing in a diverse environment that is multicultural and multi-lingual
  • Proven experience supporting DEI work
