Clinical Social Worker, Skeletal Health at Boston Children's Hospital summary:

A Clinical Social Worker providing specialized psychosocial support to children, adolescents, and young adults with skeletal conditions at a multidisciplinary health center. Responsibilities include assessments, counseling, crisis intervention, telehealth services, and collaboration with healthcare teams to address medical-related psychosocial challenges. The role also involves program development, supporting research, and quality improvement efforts within a dynamic clinical environment.

Position Summary/Department Summary:

Full time social work position (40 hrs.) needed to provide a range of clinical social work services to children, adolescents, and young adults in the Center for Skeletal Health. The Skeletal Health Program is a multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of patients diagnosed with various skeletal conditions. The Center for Skeletal Health provides a supportive team environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, individual and family counseling, and potentially group psychoeducational interventions. Interventions will be both in person and telehealth
  • Working with our Patient Navigators to help patients and families gain access to services and resources within and outside of BCH system.
  • Collaborating and consulting with our multidisciplinary team around management of psychosocial issues including coping and adjustment to medical diagnoses, difficulties with treatment regimen, family distress related to medical condition, parenting and caregiver concerns, trauma, child protection concerns and domestic violence.
  • Developing new programmatic initiatives to support patients and families in the Center for Skeletal Health
  • Supporting research and Quality Improvement efforts in the Center for Skeletal Health
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
  • Master’s degree in social work
Experience:
  • Experience in medical environment and with child protection issues highly preferred
  • Flexibility and ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel to our clinic locations in Longwood (Boston) and Waltham
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills necessary.
Licensure/Certifications:
  • LICSW licensure in the state of MA
