Overview The Chief Engineer oversees daily engineering operations. In the absence of the Director, the assistant assumes administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities related to engineering. Responsibilities Assist in maintaining property, equipment, grounds, and assets in a safe and acceptable condition. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws. Supervise and train engineering staff in customer service, SOPs, empowerment, and loss prevention. Create and post staff schedules. Develop and adhere to the annual departmental budget. Participate in financial forecasting and monthly P&L reviews. Implement preventative maintenance programs for hotel equipment. Inspect, test, and certify emergency and life safety equipment per standards. Engage in energy conservation programs. Review guest and meeting planner feedback to address issues promptly. Ensure ADA compliance. Manage vendor contracts related to engineering. Handle room maintenance requests promptly and courteously. Respond immediately to alarms, determine causes, and report findings. Assist with projects and renovations. Support hotel programs and safety committees. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of facilities management experience in a hotel or related field, or 1 year with a 2-year college degree. High school diploma or equivalent. Stationary Engineer’s license if required locally. Skills in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance. Ability to work long hours and perform heavy physical tasks. Maintain a friendly demeanor and effective communication skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle problems proactively. Attend meetings and participate in MOD coverage as required. Maintain personal appearance and grooming standards. Ensure safe and efficient operations and confidentiality of information. Perform other duties as assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr Highgate
