About the Role
The Company is in search of a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of its national compliance program. The CCO will be responsible for ensuring that the organization operates within the boundaries of regulatory requirements and industry standards, with a strong focus on Canadian regulatory compliance for the insurance industry. This role involves directly managing the national compliance program, providing strategic leadership, and overseeing all aspects of compliance, including risk management, policies, procedures, regulatory reporting, examinations, and investigations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a similar role, with the ability to assess compliance risks and find innovative solutions to support the company's growth. Candidates for the CCO position at the company should have an undergraduate degree, with a preference for a graduate degree in law or business administration, and a minimum of five years' of relevant experience in the development and administration of a company-wide compliance program within the Canadian insurance ecosystem. The role requires a strong understanding of life insurance compliance and regulatory issues, as well as applicable securities rules and regulations. The CCO will also be responsible for maintaining key regulatory relationships, conducting compliance audits, and recruiting and training qualified compliance staff. The successful candidate will be a proven leader with the ability to influence and work effectively with employees at all levels, and will be expected to foster a culture of teamwork and trust-based relationships within the organization.
