Are you a motivated and experienced individual with a passion for seafood and exceptional customer service? We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join our team at Catch of the Week. As the Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, managing staff, maintaining inventory, and delivering outstanding customer service in a fast-paced seafood market environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Supervision : Assist the Store Manager in supervising and motivating a team of sales associates and staff, ensuring excellent performance and teamwork.
- Customer Service Excellence : Lead by example in providing outstanding customer service, answering questions about seafood products, offering recommendations, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Inventory Management : Oversee the receipt, storage, and display of seafood, ensuring stock is fresh, properly rotated, and appropriately labeled. Assist in managing inventory levels and reordering supplies as needed.
- Sales & Merchandising : Assist with product merchandising to ensure high-quality displays. Help implement promotions, specials, and in-store marketing efforts to boost sales.
- Operational Support : Ensure that daily operations run smoothly, including opening/closing the market, managing cash registers, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards.
- Training & Development : Help onboard and train new team members on products, customer service, and market procedures.
- Food Safety Compliance : Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including maintaining proper sanitation and food handling procedures.
- Problem Solving : Address customer complaints and resolve issues in a professional, friendly manner to maintain customer loyalty and satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Experience : 2+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in retail, food service, or a seafood market.
- Leadership Skills : Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and motivating teams to meet and exceed goals.
- Customer Service : Exceptional customer service skills with a proven track record of handling customer inquiries, concerns, and ensuring satisfaction.
- Food Safety Knowledge : Understanding of food safety standards and regulations (experience in a food-related environment is a plus).
- Organizational Skills : Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and ensure efficient store operations.
- Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, employees, and suppliers.
- Physical Stamina : Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weight, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail : A keen eye for maintaining quality standards, managing inventory, and ensuring the store looks clean and inviting.

We have an in house sushi deparment that makes fresh sushi hourly. Live lobster tank that can can hold 3000 lbs of live stock and we cook it for our customers at no charge. Our take out deparment offers our famous fish & chips for take out or sit in. We also offer over 25 different varieties of live oysters that we can shuck for our customers . We also are in many Farmers Market in Alberta.
