Summary:
The Assistant 7 Hour Student Nutrition follows all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Student Nutrition Services (SNS) guidelines and procedures. The Assistant performs manual work in the preparation, serving and cashiering of federal reimbursable meals and a la carte foods to students and staff, under immediate supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Assists students during meal service, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and school rules while circulating through the cafeteria.
- Prepares, cooks, and serves all food items, ensuring correct portion sizes and replenishing the serving line.
- Takes food temperatures during preparation and serving, and records them according to procedure. Follows necessary corrective actions if food items are outside safe zones.
- Sets up a serving line for meals, obtaining the correct paper products and utensils, and displaying food attractively.
- Provides friendly and respectful customer service, maintaining a neat serving area and encouraging healthy food choices.
- Processes meal components, documents emergency meal transactions, handles cash and checks accurately, checks alerts for special diets, and follows end of day procedures for cash control and accountability.
- Receives, stocks, and organizes food storage areas.
- Maintains program accountability, ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations, and records necessary documentation.
- Encourages good table manners, balanced meals, and trying unfamiliar foods among students.
- Assists with student special diet requests, ensuring correct food is provided.
- Conducts food tastings, soliciting feedback from students.
- Prepares and cleans “allergy free” tables according to established procedures.
- Ensures cleanliness of cafeteria and serving areas after meals.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
