You would work to expand the community impact of the Dahlia Campus for Health and Well-Being and to provide a connection to the community through food grown on campus. This position is a multifaceted role involving the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art aquaponic greenhouse, collaborating with an integrative health and wellness center. This role works closely with the Lead Aquaponics Coordinator on all greenhouse tasks including supervising volunteers, seeding, transplanting, managing water quality, harvesting, IPM, record keeping, and sanitation. This position reports to the Associate Director of Operations and Farm Services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
● General Greenhouse Duties: Assist with general maintenance and cleaning; monitor and record key system parameters (pH, temperature, nutrient levels); perform water quality tests; identify and manage pests/diseases; assist with system improvement projects and creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures; assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues; feed fish and monitor health; support the Lead Aquaponic Coordinator in stocking, moving and harvesting of fish; give public and private greenhouse tours as needed; provide occasional assistance for training volunteers and other individuals; adhere to food safety operating procedures to ensure the health of the greenhouse environment and consumers; attend weekly meetings with all greenhouse staff to ensure smooth communication; provide administrative support for greenhouse operations including tracking harvest log and performing occasional data entry.
● Food production/Distribution: seed and transplant crops; perform proper cleaning/sanitizing tasks to meet food safety guidelines when entering the greenhouse and while handling food; participate in required training and maintenance of
Documentation to adhere to food safety regulations; harvest/pack greens, lettuces, and fish; assist in all food distribution work;
○ Direct to Community: oversee food box packing and distribution including training and overseeing volunteers; assist with organizing and storing produce; receive training on sales platform to fill orders in the event of the food access coordinator’s absence; make deliveries of food as needed; help set up farm stand that runs throughout the year.
○ To Restaurants Assist in harvesting a packing restaurant orders when needed
○ As donations: weigh and track bags designated for donation, make donation deliveries to distribution points as needed.
● Farms and Gardens Partner Support: attend special events at or on behalf of the Dahlia Campus for Health and Well-Being; attend weekly meetings with Farm and Gardens partners and outreach team
● Farm Check and on- Call: Work with the lead aquaponic coordinator and food access coordinator to create a schedule for weekend farm checks. Receive and respond to occasional calls from the greenhouse alarm system.
EDUCATION: Highschool diploma; Some college level coursework in chemistry or biology preferred. Bachelors in science preferred.
Must have valid Colorado driver’s license and pass background check.
EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years of previous greenhouse experience highly recommended. Familiarity with aquaponics and controlled agriculture environment preferred.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
● This role assists in the harvesting of fish to feed the community and must be comfortable with all aspects of handling and processing live fish
● Understanding of basic organic and biochemistry, ecology, and crop planning
● Ability to perform basic arithmetic quickly

● Knowledge of or willingness to learn about systemic oppression within the food system and agriculture
● Experience working with volunteers, children (pre-k through 12), people with disabilities, and diverse communities and individuals
● Ability to give, receive, and analyze information, and respond quickly to situations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee volunteers for food box packing and distribution. Overseeing volunteers, interns, and trainees performing greenhouse duties.
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computers, calculators, fax machines, copiers, telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment. Refrigerated box truck
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone and other office and/or clinical equipment. Stand for 5+ hours at a time. Work efficiently in bright, humid, and wet greenhouse environment. Withstand extreme temperature variation (58-80 degrees F)
WORKING CONDITIONS: Varies by season and days based on harvesting, distribution, and event schedule; occasional weekend and evening hours.
