AKA - American Kiteflyers Association

The American Kitefliers Association is the largest association of kiters in the world with over 4000 members in 35 countries. The AKA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public in the art, history, technology, and practice of building and flying kites.

AKA Membership Benefits

  • Receive a 10% discount on your orders at WindPower Sports.
  • Kiting Magazine - quarterly newsletter which includes a kite events calendar, kite plans, local club activities, committee and policy reports, a list of Member Merchants, and more.
  • Secondary liability insurance coverage for individuals. The AKA Liability Insurance program is designed to protect individual members against major costs resulting from kite-inflicted damage to people or property. It provides $10,000 of secondary liability insurance. The program is also intended to promote kite safety and to provide guarantees to public or private property owners so that they will allow AKA members to use their flying areas without fear of liability.
  • Right to participate in their annual convention including Grand National Competitions, business meetings, workshops, and the Great Kite Auction.

Membership Costs

  • U.S. membership is $30 for a 12 month membership. Additional members from the same household can join for only $4 per person.
  • Memberships for residents of Canada and Mexico are $38 for a 12 month membership. Additional members from the same household can join for only $8 per person.
  • International membership is $40 for a 12 month membership. Additional members from the same household can join for only $12 per person.
